Archaeology and Path of the Titans

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

The profession of Archaeology is closely linked to a new system called Path of the Titans. Below is a brief introduction. More information on the Path of the Titans can be found here.

Paths of the Titans is a system of character progression to be introduced in WoW Cataclysm that players will be able to take once they have reached level 85. Those who have mastered Archaeology can find Titan artifacts which act as currency used to unlock character Paths to progress along. Players will be able to join cults dedicated to various Titans, and by following in the path of a titan, will be able to unlock a new type of glyph known as an ancient glyph. This glyph is completely unrelated to the current Inscription profession. The player’s chosen Path allows them to further customize their character even though they are at maximum level. Players can earn progress down any of these Paths by doing things such as questing, raiding, PvP, trade skills, etc., Over time, characters will be able to unlock new ancient glyphs that will greatly benefit them.

Some examples of Ancient Glyphs are:

  • Bleed reduction
  • Bandage improvement
  • Increased damage following a crit

Everyone is going to eventually be able to get all the glyphs for their path, and it will not be an endless grind (i.e. not like Sons of Hodir).

For people like me who are sick of the “grind” aspect of the game at maximum level this is a bonus. The idea of being able to further maximize characters at 85 without having to logon everyday in order to not “fall behind” is a welcome new addition to the game. It seems that the new World of Warcraft Cataclysm expansion is taking notice of the casual, non-raiding players and their maxed out characters. For full details of both Archaeology and the Path of the Titans system be sure to get hold of Killer Guides Cataclysm guide before the games release.

WoW Cataclysm Archaeology

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

One of the biggest changes in World of Warcraft Cataclysm that I’m looking forward to is the introduction of Archaeology, a new secondary profession. We don’t have most of the details yet, but we do know that we’ll be visiting ruins all over the world and examining them. We will make notes and gather Artifacts that can be handed in as part of the Paths of the Titans. Leveling professions can be time-consuming and confusing so I will be getting hold of a Cataclysm guide to help me with this – and everything else that is changing!

This profession will be available to everyone, as it is secondary rather than primary, which potentially leads to overcrowded areas, excessive ganking, and lack of “spawns” or “nodes.” Hopefully Blizzard will be implementing ways to avoid making this profession too competitive and with my guide at my disposal from day one I will make sure I can level and get on my recommended Path of the Titans asap.

Killer Guides, the respected authors of guides for all MMORPGs, will have their World of Warcraft Cataclysm guide ready for use from day one. In it I will be able to stay ahead of everyone else when it comes to knowledge of all the modified game mechanics. Not only will I find information on the new professions but I will have access to which stats are now best for each of my character’s builds and which stats are no longer necessary to seek in gear. I will quickly get to grips with the new core of Mastery and how its bonuses can be put to use effectively as desired. This will be the most comprehensive guide available at the best price. And if there is gold to be made from new sources you can bet this guide will show me how!
